Volume-weighted Median
A volume-weighted median is a median in which each observation counts in proportion to its transaction volume, so larger trades influence the central value more than small ones.
Using a volume-weighted median resists distortion from tiny or outlier transactions and reflects where the bulk of real activity actually clears.
The WorkForce Labor Index uses volume-weighted statistics so its rates represent the market rather than a few unrepresentative deals.
