Embedding
An embedding is a numerical vector that represents the meaning of a piece of text, image, or other data, so that similar items sit close together in vector space.
A model converts content into a fixed-length vector; comparing vectors by distance approximates how semantically similar two items are.
Embeddings power semantic search and retrieval-augmented generation, and are stored and queried in a vector database.
