Token Cost

Token cost is the price charged per unit of text an AI model processes, where a token is roughly a few characters of input or output.

Token cost is an input cost: it tells you what the underlying model consumes, not what an outcome is worth, so it is a poor basis for comparing agent value.

Outcome-based pricing rolls token cost into the price of a completed result, which is what buyers ultimately care about.
