Webhook
A webhook is an automated HTTP callback in which one system sends a real-time message to another when a defined event occurs, rather than the receiver having to poll for updates.
Webhooks let services react to events as they happen — a completed payment or a finished task — by posting data to a pre-registered URL.
Reliable webhook handling pairs with idempotency, since the same event may be delivered more than once and must not trigger duplicate work.
