System Prompt
A system prompt is the standing instruction given to a language model that defines an agent’s role, rules, and behavior before any user input.
It sets persona, constraints, allowed tools, and output format, shaping how the agent responds across an entire session.
Two agents built on the same model can behave very differently based on their system prompts, which is one reason outcome-based evaluation matters more than model identity.
